I was also thinking of doing LED park/turn signals for these, but put them off to the side and maybee try and fit either bosh H3 foglight projectors,or a set optilux projectors in where the bulb sits, for acessory driving lights, but that might a little to much work b/c a potion of the lens would need to be sanded smooth.

the flat chrome part , (to right in 1st pic, down in second pic) that is on the side of car, is where the leds would go, od the auxilary prjector would sit in the depressin of the turn/park reflector

these are the projetors i was thinking of using

some indoor pics, from about 15 ft

the rs6 is a nice projector, it fukcing big, 3" dia. lens and nice color
low beam.............................................. ......................hi beam

the golf has a similar output to the E46's but has a strange little lever on the side of it so the cuttoff can be switched from ECE to straight

the golf pojectors lever - switched to flat cuttoff, moving it down gives the ece pattern

great job as always, almost wish I had heard about this before sending the ebays to you. These are way more stealth and probably not as easy for a thief to spot.

Wow...you proved just how easy it is to retro these projectors. Great job! I think you should have put in a bezel just so that it look aligned. Anyway, that just my opinion, but great job!

thanks...the feed back is appreciated and i am glad to see they went over well

When i get these finished up i will post some better pics, they weren't very photogenic when i took those, the pics were either bleached by the reflected flash or grainy and blurry b/c of low light, then my batteries died and these got put to the side.
these are extra lights i picked up, to see what is involved for a oem 00-01 retro, b/c i have had quite a few members ask. the rs6's are about done they need a shroud to hide the reflection of the projector, its hard to see b/c the pics are crap but the copper wire of the bixenon solenoid is reflected below and to the right. I got the stuff to make a shroud so everything gets tucked away nice and clean, I am pretty sure the rs6 have a buyer but that not a definite as of yet.
the golf w/ h7 hi beam still needs more work to get everything to fit inside the housing and work properly. Function follows form when making these up......I knew what i wanted them to look like, got everything so it looked good then got to work making it fit and adjust correctly. its a PITA and an odd combo of parts i need to get my hands to complete the second one, so it may be while before they gets finished. When they are finished, probably going to be a one of a kind set. b/c the parts contributing to the come from headlights that are a bit scarce and they require a lot of work to put together. so the cost of making up more sets would be prohibitive. But the pic does not do it justice, it looks real sweet up close. i really like look of that 1 1/4 " lens swimming in all that chrome, would definatly get a second, third and forth look from someone who knows the maxima, those who don't would look right over em b/c they look OEM.
when they are finally done they are going need a good home but cost more than my other retro's,

very very impressed!!! excellent work. since this is a lights thread ill ask this question... the used dealership i do wholesale for has a set of 02-03 headlights that are missing the hid bulbs and ballast but otherwise ive got the whole oem housing. what would be the best/cheapest way to go about finding the right bulb/ballast set up for the lights? ive just getting an HID kit is the answer then id just throw it on my headlights i have in there now. thanx in advance

any set of ballast would do... you would just have to splice up some wires and what not... you might have to PM someone who has done the direct h4 to OEM HID replacement. Any BOSCH, PHILIPS, DENSO, or Matsu****a Ballast on ebay that use d2r is fine and some philips or sram d2r bulbs will work.

this is a question for Dr.Roy but i think itmay benefit all. On the HIDPLANET site they have a complete kit for sale that includes the projector lamps the bulbs ballasts...I am so interested in the retro but i am very nervous about doing the project my self. But would any of these kits be a good buy for our application. How good are the lamps, bulbs, ballasts, etc.

Very impressive Dr.Roy...I really like the setup of the second one, although they both remind me of "terminator" for some reason Once again, you have shown that you are th undisputed master of headlight mods.

Holy gees! Look at that box of Maxima headlights! So you're the one with the crow-bar driving up our insurance prices. Watch out for those data dots. j/k

Looks good. I wish I had the ***** to take apart my lights, and the brains to modify them, and the money to buy the needed parts.

I tried doing that to my AE headlights but the Q headlights go for alot on Ebay due to the 350Z guys...argh. Looks great thou. I got some TSX projectors for sale.

they are huge and honestly not worth the money imo since the output isnt that great compared to other projectors. You are right though, they do look sick as hell and a lot of lexus gs guys use it and it fits perfectly.

shaving down the plastic to put projectors where the turn signal bulbs are would be a pain, but some projos mount right in, i had a set in my first retrofit it looked really nice but i didnt smooth out the bumps so it didnt project much light, i count find a place to make the lence smooth, if u know a place let me know i have to make my other non-max retrofitted lights sanded.
