Blown Strut...NEED HELP FAST!

Front end suspension has been very "bouncey" lately. Diagnosis...blown left front strut. I don't know a whole lot about this kind of stuff, but I was quoted $950.00 to replace (both) with either aftermarket or original from the dealer. Only difference is the aftermarket will take about a week. First of all, is this a legit price? Or is it a bit high? He said the main parts were only about $530.00 and the rest was install parts and labor.

TIA

Holy batman!

That is not a "bit high", it is downright theft.

You can pick up two new struts for < 200 bucks and have them installed for 100 bucks in labor. (These are just ball-park prices - to give you an idea of how much your dealer you).

Ask for Dave Burnette. Then head to autozone or sears, and get yourself a set of spring compressors and jackstands. ~3hours of work and you can replace both front struts...

Do yourself a favor and buy a set of Tokico Illuminas for about $400 and do the install yourself.

They are great struts which will last a long time, and the experience you get from the install is priceless

For close to OE, get the Tokico Blues. Not adjustable, but a lot cheaper.

Are Monroe Sensa-Trac struts crap? I have 111,000 miles on it and I really don't need any type of high performance stuff. I just want to get one (or two) that are comparible to stock.

TIA

KYB GR-2 and Tokico Blues are considered OEM replacement struts. If you just want regular replacement struts then I wouldn't mess around with the added expense of the Illuminas.

dude, you dont have to go to the dealer for your car. there are other places where they can fix your ride. buy the part from online www.ajusa.com even free shipping, then take it to a shop and get it fixed for 200 bones.
