Puff of smoke and exhaust smell in the morning
I recently replaced all 6 injectors as well as replaced the complete exhaust system. (WSP Ypipe, WSP performance cat converter, Greddy cat back). Since then, I get a puff of smoke when I first start the car in the morning. Also I smell exhaust in the car. The smoke and the exhaust smell are gone by the time I'm out of the driveway. What do I have wrong? Did I mess up the injector install, have a exhaust leak, or something else? How do I test to see what the issue is? Thanks.
just a sign of old age.. kinda like when my knees pop and creak when I get up in the morning..
usually that puff of oil at startup is from valve stem seals that are getting old and leak just a bit of oil down the valve stems while the engine is sitting. then when you fire it up, puff! you'll see it on late 80s/ early 90s chevy trucks a lot too. same thing.
not a real problem at all unless the thing smokes more than a few seconds after startup.

- Your ign wiring was out: Its a miracle if after hassling with the ol carbon filled rubbrhoses they still conduct ANY electrons. Youre lucky to driveaway
Build wires, throw the worn soot hoses outta driveway.- Cap, plugs? Distributor Ground pin?
- All tHose plus zillion others, clic http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/1
- Exhaust: jack up, prop properly, start engine and feel with finger for leaks...while cold. Helps if smbdy blocks pipe end. Later the leaks will produce blk soot around leak: take a peek with digicam with a flash.
- Maxima never spreads/spills its oils like GM's, Fords BMW Volvo whaterver trucks... its tight into the end. Valve stem seals might harden; they may be replaced w/o takin engine out.
