GAB, Berk, K&N what should I do?

hey guys,
I think that i might be having some trouble with my intake.....
here is the story, sorry for making it long, but i really need to get some things cleared out....
I bought CAI from ebay, prbly about 1yr ago, didnt even know about the org before, but I found this cai on ebay for like 37 shipped, brand new, but it was peace of ****....It was something like those angeleyes compared to OEM 2k2 headlights....but back than i didnt know that, i just wanted an intake and to be cool and it said that it would add "7hp" bull ****......those ppl make so much stuff up, but again i didnt know that, i was only like 15-16. So i bought the intake, and installation wasnt as bad (filter was included with it)....at high rpms i really could hear a deep sound, i loved it....mileage was the same, just like i bought the car, it was prby in the average of 250-300 miles per full tank. So I heard so many stories from my friends bout' civics and integras getting wather sucked up throug their cai, and boom engine goes down....it scared the **** out of me, i had to do something about it.....So I took the saw, and made my custom short ram intake (lmao), pluged everything where it was supossed to go.....but after i installed it, i wasnt getting the deep sound and high rpms. and my gas milage, dammm it went way down....it didnt happen instantly, it took it some time....but rite now, if i go 200 miles per full tank in the city, i would be so happy, my gas mileage is really really bad.....idk what to do about it, i really need to fix this. I've changed one of my o2 sensors.....
should i go back to stock, and do the GAB mod....and use K&N filter or stock?
or should i buy me Berk intake?
that is the question lol...
here are the pics of the intake "before" and "after"
before---

after----

maybe i didnt plug something in correctly, but my ses light would come on.
so if you guys think that u can help pls let me know....
thanks again....

Hey Huso...I would say go with the stock airbox and stock air filter...and just run it like that for a few gas tanks...see if your mileage changes or what not....if it does, then the intake is your culprit....if it doesn't change, then its something else....but as for now, save the money on the berk and fancy K&N filters...and just go stock and see how that works out...

Maxboost, Post a link of that cheap MAF adaptor....I actually helped a local of mine (BUSi87) get one of those....cuz hes looking into buying a filter for his midpipe...and I told him about your ebay adaptor and he copped one the next day...

You can just run resonator less....so your setup will look like,

TB-Accordian looking piece-MAF-MAF adaptor-Filter

then you can put the vaccum for the crankcase thingy into a catch can....fosho

Your best bet is to get a nicely designed intake. My personal preference is Berk coupled with A'PEXi. Best combo you can purchase bar none.

They're both identical intake designs.

I think he means the Place Racing CAI that Cattman sells on their website.

He still doesn't make sense...cuz a Cattman/PR is both the same exact thing...and yes PR did go out of business....but Cattman still sells his CAI till this day...which is the SAME **** as the PR....
