So I got a 9007 HID kit awhile ago, not knowing about retrofitting projectors in the headlights with the real HID's.

I think I've read somewhere that there are projectors for 9007 bulbs, now my question is, would getting those projectors benefit me at all? If they exist ofcourse

To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as 9007 projectors. They wouldn't help your situation a lot anyway, and if you're going through the trouble of retrofitting projectors and have HIDs, then get HID projectors. The results will be a million times better.

How do you know what type of bulb a certain HID projector supports? I've looked at many projects on Ebay (such as the e46) but I don't believe I saw anything about what kind of bulb it takes. And if the project takes a different bulb...how does the whole harness thing work? I am extremely sorry, but I am an HID noob...or even worse than a noob if that's possible. However, when I get my next 4th gen (I have my eye on a 98 58kmi 5spd) I'm going to really put alot of money into it and that includes HID's. Tatanko, yak sho mogish...please offer your $0.02. Thanks.

HID projectors use either D1S, D2S, or D4S bulbs. There aren't many D1S projectors around since the standard was switched to D2S not long after. D4S is a new kind that only a very small group of cars use, and you won't likely see them on eBay, either. Your best bet is to pick up something that uses D2S, since it's the most common. I cannot tell you what "kind" use D2S, as you would have to ask about a specific projector for me to know. My E46 bi-xenons use D2S, for example.

As far as harnesses go, you will need a custom one in order to make the projectors, ballasts, and ignitors work. The bulb (D2S for example) will sit in the projector, and the ballast and ignitor (one with a D2S plug since we're talking about using a D2S projector and bulb) will plug directly onto the bulb. How you go about getting power to the ballast is the custom part. It's reccomended you don't power them through your stock wiring, but rather directly using the battery and a good grounding point (or the negative battery terminal). To do this you would use a relay with wiring going to your stock wiring, the battery, and the ballasts.

but the OP already has a HID Kit. A projector would make your HID look better, because it gives you some type of cutoff aleast. Its better then running a HID kit bare.

But yea a 9007 isn't going to come by easily. I've seen 9004, 9006's h1 h7's.

But yea i think it would benefit you, in some way. Not as good as going with a tru d2s setup but it will benefit you. Thats how i'm thinking of going personally, getting a halogen retro, if i feel I need more lighting get a h1.h7 KIT and use that.
