They weighed with stock RE92 tires, 50 lbs!!!!!

I freaked when I saw that. Because my MOMO ARROWS weighed with 245x45zr17s and 17x8 wheels 55lb! So goes to show you these wheels are PRETTY damn heavy!

Russ, My Borbets are 52lbs with Tires but My car got slow once I replaced my factory rims with these. Must be the OffSet, Plus it pulls to the left and right now more then it use to, but then again I didn't have all the HP with the stock 17z

That's about what I thought they would weigh. They look really heavy. I bet those tires are pretty heavy too. You should look into some lighter rims because those things are sucking about .2 out of your et. My 17s weighed about 48lbs and when I would swap them out for the 41lb 15" stockers, I dropped about .2 and gained 1.5mph.

My 17" Epic rims and tires weigh 50lb's each. I did quite a few runs with my G-Tech pro from 0-60 with and with out my 17' rims. The tests were on my 5spd 95 max. The best time I got 0-60 with my stock 15's was 6.13 to 60mph but I usualy average about 6.2-6.4. I then tested my 17's and on the 2 runs I got 6.98 and .6.99 which equates to about .6 second loss from 0-60.

On another note I am convinsed that the 2K+ Maximas are faster then 95 maximas given the same stock 15' setup. If you noticed the tests from MT on a 95 Max did 0-60 in 6.6 on the stock 15' setup, now the MT test on a 2K Max used heavier 16's{SE} and got 6.7 to 60mph. Point being if a 2K had stock 95 SE rims it would probably have run a 6.5 to 60MPH.

I'd figure the stock GXE 16 combo weighs as much as the stock 97+ SE 16 combo (about 44lbs).

I weighed my 2000 16" SE rims with Yokohama Avid V4's and came up with 41 lbs. My new SE 17's with stock Potenzas came out to 47 lbs.

Getting rid of them so soon? I think I will keep mine until the tires wear out. Then, I will probably go with a new set of light weight rims

No.. still thinking it through. I've noticed that my car is a little slower off the line though. They are 6-10 pounds heavier than the 16's, so I think what I'm feeling is real. Handling has slightly improved though.

Right now I have 8 nice rims with new tires. I have my 5 spoke 16's stacked in my basement awaiting my decision.

The 5-spokes are the same size as the 9 spoke right? I hope so cause then I can switch the tires. Just need to find some...

Your are correct. I'm probably the only person on Maxima.org that's has owned all 3 rims.

GXE (old GLE) luxury rim 215-55/16
SE/GLE 5 spoke sport rim 215-55/16
SE 6 spoke sport rim 225-50-17

The stock SE rims are heavy, no doubt. My former I30t 5sp was faster from 0 to 60 due to its lightweight 15" BBS rims, but the cornering on the new Max is much better.

I wouldn't mind taking those 17's off you. Give me an email so we can negotiate with your asking price. (I'll pay shipping)

thanks

That is why most think there maxima is slower than '00 models

If you were to look back, you would see that most (maybe all) of the car magazines tested the '00 maxima with the 16" wheels -17" came out late. The smaller diameter/lighter wheels yield a bettter 0-60 time. I bought my SE with 16" wheels (no C&C) and I have beaten 2 '01 se 5-spd maximas with 17" pretty easily. You would be suprised how the lack of the weight from sunroof, power seat, wheels/tires, leather, and aero kit helps the performance.

dang those are heavy

i know i get some better handling and cornering , but i can tell that my off-the-line acceleration has suffered a bit. i think its time to go with some lightweight 16's.
