2 subtle issues (odor in ECON, clunking noise in suspension)

I have 2 subtle issues

#1. odor in ECON:
when the climate control is in Auto mode, all is well. but when I press ECON I could smell little odor. it is the cabin filter? or a/c system shoud be cleaned?

#2. little cluking noise/feeling in turn or over a bump.
when or after turning/going over speed bump etc, I feel something is shaking or clunking at the front end. I think something is touching something (feels as if some rubber piece hitting the chasis or something). I could feel it 2-3 times and it goes away as the movement of car settles down. it happens at low speed. very hard to explain in words

Yes i30ds is right. Most likely the previous owner of the car was a smoker which can cause that odor. Just get the air system cleaner and you will be fine. But about that oise on the front i am really not sure.Hope this helps.

the odor is coming from the vent. when the Auto is on, no smell. only when I pressed ECON the odor blows in (well it's not so much odor. but little discomforting smell I never experienced in my previous cars).

I know when the a/c condencer may develop mold or something so it could produce odor when a/c is on. But my case is the opposite. no smell with A/C on but when the ECON is on (the compressor(?) is off) odor blows.

was wondering if this is normal.

so little clunking feeling is from the shocks? shocks seemed to be ok although I've got 130k km on it.

Well I thoguht taht is what it is. Cause my car has 51,000km and has the exact same. When the AC is on all is fine but when I turn on the ECON is has a weird scent to it. I was told that is what the cause was from.

air system cleaner... you mean can of spray that you spray from the out side (or engine bay) where the air is sucked in to cabin?

Yes that is what I meant. It really does a good job depending on which one you get.

That reminds me. I should change my filter as I do get musty odor once and awhile.

Here is a link if you want to know how it is done:

thanks for the how-to.
I'll try the spray and filter change and see if it fixes the odor.

#2 issue has been addressed.

The noise was the supproting bracket (metal piece) of the exhause pipe after the resonator. it was off and loose. welded it back on the pipe.

also the right ball joint was loose, it was replaced.

mechanic lifted the car up and played with the wheel and immediately blamed loose ball joint. I couldn't buy it so I started to check other area and found the piece of bracket hanging loose by the rubber.
I just let him change the ball joint becaue if it was loose it needs to be replaced anyways.
