I tried to post this in how to's but it seems to be closed. I went to the junkyard and got an old connector tube from the throttle body to the airbox. Harbor Freight sells a funnel set really cheap that has a small funnel in it. Drill a 3/8 hole in the connector pipe and insert the funnel. Pour the Seafoam in per directions on the bottle and blammo, it actually gets sucked into the intake rathere than drain into the bottom of the airbox. or you can just pull the brake booster hose & let it suck in directly into the intake and skip all that other bs

Brake booster hose is a very easy way to go. The difference this stuff made on my BMW 325 was amazing, much smoother idle and acceleration. I'm not under the delusion that I gained any power, but it certainly improved drivability.

 

Also, consider a bottle in the oil, and one in the gas tank. I ran mine like that for a week after doing the engine treatment, then changed the oil. If you have picky neighbors, beware the initial smoke show.

 

On more modern cars, Seafoam is really only good for cleaning out the intake manifold, pistons, and valves via the brake booster.

Throwing it into the gas tank doesnt make much of a difference on a fuel injected car in spite of what placebo effects you may feel...but on Carburated cars you may actually get some measurable improvement...

Putting it into the crankcase will thin out your oil if left in to long and it is kind of a harsh cleaner so if it does clean out some sludge, it will do it chunks at a time and will quickly and hopelessly clog your oil filter up...not a good thing...

I'd keep it to strictly using through the brake booster line just before an oil change....because even THEN some might leak down past the pistons and into the oil...eventually thinning it out over time...hence the needed oil change...

 

First off, everyone be careful putting it down the brake booster (or any intake line) as going to fast could ruin your motor...


Seccond, its fine in with the gas,


BUT, BE VERY VERY VERY careful with it in the oil, i would never ever ever ever do this to a car, Auto-Rx is a much better choice, it may work, it may not, i know it will do damage

 

where do you get teh seafoam from does everyone have it

run away!! run away!! its a waste of money and pollutes the environment. not to mention it doesnt clean anything.

 

Yes, jmeister, you can put the Seafoam directly into the brake booster hose but this is post throttle body. My throttle body and throat were significantly cleaner after the application. It cost nearly nothing to do and is reuseable. As for pics, as I stated I will gladly send the two I took to anyone who is interested in them. It is a prettty self explanatory mod though. Drill hole, insert funnel, pour, smoke, enjoy the ride.

 

It works really well by the way.
