Check out the last question on this interview

What do you think?. Could this be Nissan's competitor for the upcoming Passat W8?.

It would be logical for Nissan to offer a awd sedan to compete w/ Audi/BMW/Subaru etc... Since the Maxima competes w/ the Camry,Accord,TL, Tarus etc..., it would be the first in it's respective Japanese class to offer an AWD sports sedan. Jaguar X-type is AWD. But the interesting thing is that they started w/ a FWD platform, then modded the fwd trann w/ an extra driveshaft. So it's awd but had a traditional fwd trasverse engine layout.

Not to confuse it with

What will the next Maxima be like?

The new platform is more flexible, and there's a four-wheel-drive variant available. We know that sportiness is key to Maxima's heritage, and we will not lose that feel. There will be a more pleasurable feel of sportiness with luxury. We have to move up.
Just for those hearts that skipped a beat. The Europeans use the term "variant" to denote a wagon. You can breathe easy "variant" is NOT used in this context. Long gone are the days of the Maxima station wagon!.

Hey, wagons can be cool. Remember the Volvo 850 T5 wagon? That was one hell of a ride!
