Removing old stock exhaust tips??
Removing old stock exhaust tips??
I tried to remove them today but couldnt get those damn things off. I didnt want to cut anything or break them, but I dont seem to understand how these things are holding onto the exhaust so tight and why I cant pull them off? A closer look at them shows that inside it seems they are hugged to the actual exhaust pipe with metal restraint looking things. Anyone know how to remove these safely?
I think they are held on by friction. The chrome piece has that inner-piece that slides over the metal exhaust pipe and it is not welded or screwed on. How do I know this? B/c when I was washing my car yesterday the passergerside right chrome tip came off in my hand as I washed the chrome tips. I just slide it back on. I will have to find a way to crimp it tighter this weekend before I lose it.

Yes It does seem it is held on my friction. However, mine is on soooo tight and I cant get it to slide off. Any ideas on what I can do to get this off? Will it be dangerous to use some WD-40 or something on the exhaust area? Not sure if it is flammable or cannot be used near heat...

I am not going to leave it like that with no tips... lol .... I want to remove them so I could put some better ones on. Anyone know a way to take them off or what??
honestly I think it is best if you take it into a muffler shop and have them do it. if they can't pull it off and add new tips then they can deffinitly cut them off and weld on a new set. good luck post pics....
