It took me and my friend2 days but we managed to install a CAI with a drill with one bit, snips, garden shears, blood and alot of sweat.......BUT DAMN!!!!!IT WAS WORTH IT. The car feels great and it runs better. I'm going to take it to the track and try to beat my 16.4 and I'm sure I'll put on a good show at the hurricane nationals. In my opionion the money was well spent.

yeah it sounds great and I've been looking for reasons to drive my car ever since. after me and my friend put it in we went "hunting" for a guinea pig to test it on but all we saw was a cavalier.... we were looking for some VTEC but we didn't find any and usually they all over the place like roaches..

All the VTEC owners in your area heard your max got a CAI and they are all hiding in their garage installing more clear lights and blue bulbs in preparation for the next time they pull up beside you.

The placracing, cattman, and WSP CAI's are all basically the same style. I ordered a red one cuz I wanted it to match my valve covers, but I think warpspeed can just send you the piping w/o the filter if you have your own. The performance is great and I love the sound. i should let you know that people WILL be able to hear your engine coming so don't think you'll be able to sneak up on anyone, but it's worth it.

Well I just installed my WSP CAI over a week ago and i can honestly say that its a lot quieter than when I had my POP charger. My pop made a sh*t load of rumble. When I get on it with the CAI it does make noise, but its all the way in the fenderwell so you can't hardly hear it. On the bright side, I did feel the overall performance of the car increase. I really noticed it the second day.

Later,
Kevin

I had the JWT POP charger and that thing was mean loud at WOT. I dunno, but my new CAI doesn't sound that mean.

Thanks,
Kevin

the sound is actually lower. When we reved the car to test it the sound was great, but not as loud as when I had my pop charger. The hardest part was the hole cuz we had no tools other than that every thing else was fairly easy. I got red to match my valvecovers but it doesen't really matter cuz my valve covers are dirty anyway.

I am seriously thinking about getting a CAI, but I have a few questions:

1. Should I try to install it myself after I order it? Or should I pay a performance shop to do it? (CCR in Las Vegas)

2. Where does my stock 92 Max SE suck in air? The CAI is suppose to get cooler outside the engine. Doesn't my car already do that? Can someone please explain?

3. How much of a difference in performance would the CAI be VS. just a regular K&N I can drop in my stock car?

Thank you.

Aaron92SE

P.S. I have Auto, if that makes a difference.

Throwing a K&N filter into your stock airbox will do lieelt more then give you a couple extra gallons to each tank......
Your stock airbox is the box on the right of your engine bay coming off the throttle body....a CAI puts a cone intake in your fender well, so your getting the increased flow of a pop charger and the benifit of outside air vs underhood air......automatic or 5 spd makes no difference.....If your unfamiliar with how to install a filter you could always pay someone to do it, but the only hard part is the hole you have to make in the fender wall, other then that it would be a great way to learn about your car and how to work on it..........boy your loaded with these CAI questions hope i could help.............

I'll be honest and tell you I WILL NEVER install another as long as I live. I would pay someone else to do it but if you are mechanically inclined and have a lot of patience then full steam ahead. Your car has the same engine as mine so if you lookinto the bay to the right of the battery you will see a black plastic tube with the one opening going to the the filter housing and the other opening right behind your head light. the system doesen't suck cold air. The difference between a drop in replacement K&N and a CAI it big all the drop in will do is give you some throttle response and a couple of mpg of gas. it's a waste of money. My CAI brought me from consistent 16.8's to consistent 16.4's....that's not a dyno but it's real results none the less.....4 tenths isn't really easy to get rid of.

am I reading your sig right? 16.4@81? Were you stock when you ran that time? Just seems kinda high. I ran my friend's 93 Altima gxe 5sp all stock for roughly the same time/speed. What do 93 SE 5sp stock run these days?

Low 15s. JohnnyMax ripped a 14.3 in his 93 5-sp w/ mods but no boost.

I had mods when i ran the 16.4, my best run stock was a 16.6 and that was on a really cool night. right now I'm going for a 16.2 but i haven't got back to the track yet.
