Loud "crack" noise passenger wheel

Hi Guys

I'm having some pretty bad "crack" noises from the left wheel when I turn. It's inconsistent and only happens about half the time. I got top plates replaced about 4 months ago and got them checked again last week and they seem fine. The guy told me if it was a top plate problem the noise would be consistent. I got my steering rack checked at the dealer and it seems fine. They told me my lower control arms need to be replaced; but to my (limited) knowledge, that can't be the cause of the sounds I'm hearing, can it?

* Both times I got the car checked the noise had stopped so they didn't actually hear anything...

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!

It certainly could be, if the reason for replacement is that your bushings are worn out (typical). Why don't you check the condition of the bushings to see if there is metal on metal contact? This could be the source of the noise.

Check your axle...My passenger side axle was the first one to get messed up and it only happened when I turned. Then it started happening when I would change lanes on the highway. Should take you about an hour to switch it out.

From: in my max, pa. :p
i would say ball joints and bushings cept i did my control arms and i still get a noise cause i need front end suspension work. put in on a rack and take a good look yourself, and if your not sure take it to stealership and they will know. check rack boots and tie rods too allthough they dont really make a noise like that.
