Aftermarket fog lights hook up!!

Hey all,
Just wonder if y'all can give some pointers on these questions. Can you connect the stock pre-wire fog light cords in the 3rd gen. max to the aftermarket fog light kit? (If yes, which wires do i cross? ) I want to hook up some fog lights that i saw at wal mart to my max. They look alot like the stock fogs. Will they be at the same voltage? or do i have to install the circuit board as well? Also, do i have to unplug the battery when doing this? thanks!

1. yes, you don't cross any wires. you just make sure that positive stays positive and negative stays negative.
2. Voltage is the same
3. nope
4. highly recommended

i got some cheap ones for 19 from auto zone and went to the JY and got stock dash switch and relay. plugged relay in, harness behind switch panel to switch and connected the two wires that were prewired to the fogs and was done. easy and looks great.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.

I can't believe what some people want for OEM foglights! I've seem them go from $50 - $80 and on ebay for $150! What are they made out of gold or platinum?

I'm going to wal-mart!
$16.88 foglights FTW!

yea the OEM ones are nuts, i dont even think they look too great either. Mine have a blue tint to the lenses and they look extremely white when one at night which is nice. But one question, wat does FTW mean?

I bought mine at autozone for 20 bucks. Went home cut off ther pig tails on the stock fog light harness and drilled some holes, wired them up and mounted them in like an hour and they are awsome. I think they are pretty bright too. heres some pics of mine.

did you cut out the area behind the foglight?
The SE bumper already has it cut out, but on the GXE there is a U shaped indention.

Yea i did cut them out but when I was using my dremel i noticed that if you just cut alittle bit you can just pull and the pocket part will the just come out itself, and that little airdam on the front there are a couple of notches where you can cut too.

which harness? The one that connects to the fogs them selves? Take out corner light and look striaght down it will be tapes to another wire.

The one in the dash? Take out switch panel and on the left reach in and pull out some wires and youll see one tapes to the cruise control harnes or sumthing.

yeah, the dash one. I didn't know those wires would come out any when pulled.

edit: mine won't pull out any farther so I can get to it. I have the harnesses by the bumper on both sides, but i can't get to the dash harness. How much did you guys have to remove to access it? Does removing the cluster add any access?

um, well I know i'm in the right area.... behind the mirror adjustment switch and cruise control master switch. I have some custom wiring up there as well which is actually in the spot that I'll need to put the switch there and move those other switches somewhere else.

how big is the connector? So far I don't see anything that could possibly be that.... it may be deeper in or something but I don't see it just sitting there or anything. You have a GXE so we should have the same situation as each other concerning unused-but-present harnesses.

did you ever find it? I snaped a quick pic w/camera phone. It's the black connector. It was taped back with blue tape.

maybe it's not prewired on the first series of the gen. maybe just 92+... but i f it's not prewired then what in the hell do the harnesses down on the headlight wiring connect to? just to half of the relay, and that's it? I have the light harnesses, just nto the switch harness.

hmm, I guess your's isn't prewired.
There are 4 wires going to the plug:
red w/yellow stripe
black w/red stripe
orange w/blue stripe and
a solid black wire.
maybe that will help you
