tranny rebuild - any good links?
tranny rebuild - any good links?
Ok, so is looks like my tranny is going. Loosing 2nd and OD in my auto. Slips through the 2nd and if I give it too much gas in OD it slips down.
So I figure I'll rebuild it.
Any good links for rebuilding?
Also, what do most kits contain? This seems to be just a seal problem and of course I'll need gaskets and such but I certainly don't need to be replacing any gears, etc.
-Thanks

Seriously, rebuilding an auto is not worth it. Used are plentiful and overall these are pretty durable trannys. So if you get one with low mileage you'll get the best bang/$

i will say you should at least try to fix it yourself, i wanna do it myself even if i buy a used/rebuilt one still i will keep old and fix it for future becoz i am going to keep it for at least ten more years
just give me your email address and i will send you complete service manual (as i am unable to attach due to space limit) if you want.

Basically, unless you just want to do it for the experience and you're sure that you can do it correctly, don't bother. Get another for $300 and be done. A lot of times you can get them cheaper than that - I got one for free from Dixit and one for $250 at a junkyard. Local pick and pull sells transaxles for $80 a piece.
Automatics are pretty easy to rebuild, but it helps vastly if you have a good amount of experience in doing them. Not something I'd recommend for a beginner if it's your only vehicle and you need it back on the road quickly.
