Raising rear end..

Raising rear end..

So like many people i have subs in the trunk... and i have stock springs with illumina struts... i dont like the way the rear sags.. is there any spacer or anything that can be inserted there to raise it up?

You were in auto and swapped to a manual correct? Are you still using the automatic springs? If so your only option is to use manual front springs to drop the front to level the car out.

ah crap.. wrong forum... this was supposed to be in 4th gen... Mods please move..

anywho.. i did swap to manual springs.. the front is the same height still...

its the back that sucks.

I assume you could install longer bolts on the rear strut mount and get a 1/2in spacer made that is the same shape of the rear strut mount

just a thought, but how bout purchasing a set of touring springs from an i30t? they are pretty damn tall, and before i lowered my car i could go mudding.

Are you sure the front springs were manual springs?
They should have lowered the front 1/2 inch making the car look level.

just get some h techs, they are as close to stock feel as you can get and youll still look lowered....because you are. i have a system in my car and it actually makes the back and front look perfecttttttttt.

only 175 for em

they make rubber spacers you can squeeze into the springs. People use them to cheaply raise trucks. I'm not sure how well the would fit on max springs but its worth a shot there cheap and sold at most autopart stores

heres the thing guys.... when i changed the rear struts to illuminas, i didnt even have to compress the damn spring... is that normal

a little OT, how do you like the ride with the Illumina's and the stock springs? Significantly better than with the stock struts?

Just curious because I was wanting to do the same thing. Keep the stock springs and just add the Illumina's.

Oh and you could always add some Koni yellows to the back. I believe they have a raisable perch.

I have 400+ lbs of audio stuff bro

my rear end sags like no other BUT i installed KYB gr2 and maxspeed springs in the front only!

Im in the works of doing another system w/ 5 batteries(66lbs each), 3 12's(52lbs each), 6.8cu ft box(birch wood tryin to save wieght..lol) 5 amps, and the list goes on but i have found the solution with rubber spacer things from ebay...they are a 1.5" rasier but in my case that will be perfect with all this stuff camped in the trunk..in your case i you prolly can get smaller one..

That would be a good way to go. Replacing the springs couldn;t hurt and you could probably call around and find a set pretty cheap.
Are you shocks adjusted to thier stiffest setting?

It's called gravity and it keeps us planted here on mother earth.

As some have mentioned, put a set of lowering springs up front, I would recommend H&R's. Leave the rear alone. H&R's ride the best so you'll likely have a nice looking and very nice riding car set up that way.

SO i believe that i might have figured out a solution.. i went to advance autoparts this morning and got some coil spring boosters..



so far it looks great and rides great.. hope it works

Well i have a question myself. I want to drop the front of my maxima about 1in cause my back sags too from my 15" sub. I have illumnia with stock springs on 20"s please help
p.s. I want to keep my ride smooth and soft. I hate stiff. I have my old H&R sport springs, in my garages still, that i took off just to install the 20"s

Does it affect the ride any? Do you have some before and after pics? I'm dealing with the same sagging problem. Seems to always happen with any springs that were used on the car.

well i drove with it for like 50 miles today... highway and city.. it drives GREAT.. it seems to handle and ride a lot better than before

I would imagine that that artificially increases spring rate.

Let us know after a couple hundred miles how they are holding up.

yea its a pretty red neck thing to do but like i said it rose the car about 2 inches... before it was WAY too low i had people in the back seat and it looked like the wheels were gonna rub...

really I am surprised so little of you have heard of spring spacers. I have two sets in the front and back of my SE-R. the best one's that I found are the ones that are a complete circle. the little square one's that he got are the not bad kind IMO because they compress but I cnt tell if thos are rubber or not.

Yes they do make the ride a bit more stiff, but that is if their in the front.
