Symptoms: Bucking on the highway, no coolant

Runs OK around town.
Had no coolant when I checked it.
is there a safemode that the car goes into if it senses overheating?
yes the temp gauge works, that's why I bother to check the coolant at all.

Has the car overheated??

Are you sure temp gauge works?

If your car is running hot than you might have some small engine damage

yes I'm sure the temp gauge works. it went down once we weren't moving.

I'm not too worried about engine damage, it's still running fine at idle and in the city. We'll see how things are when I add coolant on sunday and drive it home.

Could be, I didn't see any signs of it being blown so
Oil looked good, no unusual wetness around the heads.
if it is blown then I am blowing my money on the car and will just resell it and be done with it.

you may wanna perform a coolant system persure test along with a cylinder compression test, to analyze our cylinder pressure balance!

later on today I'll be doing a cooling system pressure test to it. depending on the result of that I may do a compression check.

I drove it around yesterday, to and from Maxus with no coolant loss
