BIG Rock !

So on the way home from work i drove over a huge rock i did not see till the last second, my car is lowered and the rock was pretty big, it made a massive boom under the car and when i looked there is a huge dent in the corner of my gas tank on the driver side, There is no leaks but should i be worried about anything ?

Surprised it did hit anything before the tank.

Keep an eye on it for a while, if you don't notice anything wrong, and no fuel leaks, should be alright.

Wow, that must've been a big rock. Wonder if anyone was behind you and if they saw anything or made an evasive maneuver.

Man.....,Professor,....it looks like you're not having much luck lately with your baby, including being hit by lightning (was that you or am I mistaken?). If you don't have any leaks, then you just only have a slightly smaller capacity fuel tank. I'm also surprised it didn't cause any more damage along the way.

Yeah i was really worried about it hitting the rear axle and bending it, no one was behind me, was 5:45 am when i hit it comming home from work, god i cant win , i seen it at the last second and thought it was just a big clump of snow but i was wrong, it dident hit till like the middle, i was looking some more and them beams that run under the car, useually where you jack it from , it also has a huge dent, the rock i hit was a pile of crumbs and it seems other ppl have hit it also, so far no leaks, I just filled the tank and seems ok, yeah, was me with the lightning ><, To toss wood to the fire, on the way taking my GF to work the cel came on....... lean code.... i been getting that for a few months, nothing i do fixes it.been posting in the 4th gen about it also, seems another member has the same issue.

I came close to hitting it, swerved off the road into a ditch of some sorts and tore up my back tires. And bent the rim.

I think i would avoid the casinos for a while, and dont walk under any ladders, or break any mirrors, or open any umbrellas inside. Your luck is bad enough!

but finally, this last week, fixed my tranny, and got my car back on the road. now to fix the EGR selenoid valve, and the iat.

Something similar happened to me last week. My GF was driving to Mcdonalds the morning after a major snow storm she could see the parking curb and drove right over it. Im lowered 2inches and luckily she took it sideways, I looked under the car and tought something was leaking. Luckily it was just the snow, everythings been normal since.

dineth00i30, The ride is more stiff. To me the car handles more firmly ( When you take a turn and reasonable speed it doesnt feel "floatly" as my stock setup did ). Overall just a firm nice ride, however you may feel bumps a little more dude to the KYBs

make sure your EVAP system is still intact, sometimes it takes a few days for the codes for the CEL to register for the EVAP system. Also, check the gas lines, evap lines and break lines running by the left rail on a side, look under the plastic coverings (protectors) for any damage to the lines.

I would take another look under the car. I would think that you would have had to graze someting else first to cause the rock to shift or bounce to hit the tank. There are many other things under there that are lower. The other thing to worry about besides leaks is both the level sender and the fuel pump. I'm new to the Max, but many fuel pumps are in the tank which can be a problem and if the level indicator in anyway gets bent or knocked loose you could be running low without knowing it. Good Luck and hope everything turns out okay.

It happened to me in my 90. On my way down the mountain from snowboarding I ran over what I thought was a chunk of snow too. Whatever it was it took out my O2 sensor and put a pinhole in my gas tank. I wasnt too happy.
