I would like to know reviews for the Vias block off and the intake spacer.

Hey guys and gals.

I have read lots about the vias block off

I know the vq35 will loose low end, and the believe the intake spacer will adjust this, am I correct?

Also I have a auto.

Please give me a brief description,

Thanks, Perkman87

Yes, but I want to know how people like it after installing it.

De they miss the low end torque, and any problems.

I found mixed reviews, so i Figured I would clear it up for everyone.

The lost low end is nothing compared to the gained and consistent high end with just the block plate. Getting the spacers installed next week or so. I'd vouch to say it's close to the best $60 bucks I spent (bought it a while ago). No complaints.

Have you looked at the dynos?

Since search isn't working for me, basically the blockoff plate will enable the VAIS to be open all the time instead of at 4k???

Your'e half way right. There will be no VAIS when you install your blockplate. The only part of the VIAS that will remain is your gasket to be used when installing the block plate. You remove the VAIS in order to install the block plate. This, in return, means that there is no variance in the amount of air the intake system consumes, hence the V in VAIS. It'll act as if your valve would be constantly open. The back-pressure created from when the valve was closed pre-3800rpm is what created the increase in low-end when the VAIS is installed.

That Is what I think happens, I believe you can gut it or leave it intact. but It causes the VIAS to no longer open just at 4k, but all the time.

No cel or anything??? and isn't it better to have that feature as the low end torque will help you get up to speed quicker and then the valve open up for more HP???

Im guessing that once the pressure builds up in the empty Manifold it produces more power, and flows better. I wish I could find the graph, but Im in the same boat as you I am debating on doing it.

I just did this this weekend I dont have the block off plate yet but I removed the valve and the rod the valve was bolted to and plugged the hole shut and removed vacumm canister. I noticed the small loss in low end but the top end was awesome and it sounds mean as hell. I have only did a couple 70mph to 100mph runs because weather is bad right now but pulled very hard and I also have a auto.

I have had the block plate and SSIM for a while and love them both I recently added the spacers and it seems I regained a lot of the low end loss from both the SSIM and vias removal my butt dyno isn't great and I've gotten used to the low end loss but can deffinatly feel some gains with the spacers. So if you are plannin on gettin the spacers too I wouldn't really worry about the loss cuz it is minimal compared to the gains.

the NWP spacers is an excellent mod for the money. You won't regret it. Excellent mid range power and torque gains

Interested in this too. I guess a lot of the time it depends on how much you use the new found power.

Since the dyno graph linked for the VAIS block-off plate shows the power loss to be between 2800-3800, that is higher than my typical freeway speeds (72 is 2500 rpm) so my assumption would be no change in steady freeway speeds unless you are at 2800 rpm or higher due to the slight power loss meaning you'd step on the gas a bit harder to maintain your speed.

Someone else mentioned the gains above 3800 rpm are worth the loss between 2800-3800. Do the rest of y'all who have done this believe the same? How many of you have automatics and does this negatively affect around town driving throttle response?

Seriously considering the block off plate due to the big gains above 3800 rpms at such a low cost. Just want to be sure that midrange drivability isn't affected too much since it might be a little while before I change plugs and do the intake spacers.

With both spacers and the block plate I didn't notice any drops in my MPGs in the city but on the highway I seem to get a little better milage not much and I'm not totaly sure it was from the mods maybe 5% better.

Keep in mind that tuning is important upon achieving that goal. Also, an extended rev limiter would be beneficial.

the total hp If i am correct is a 20hp gain with both items installed. I beleive that for 220 for both It is a steal. Correct me if I am wrong.

Installing a y pipe could up the ante.

I mean for around 500

thats 30 hp???????

Doesn't always work that way. The intake spacer gains are mostly in the midrange, very little on top end. It also depends on the ability of the ECU to adjust for the increased airflow, and if it can't do it completely, you will get less gains than expected until you tune the engine on a dyno.

I am loving my SSIM and spacers since I got them done like 6 months ago. The sound from the exhaust and intake are different, lower tone plus it pulls like a raped ape on the highway...

i found the spacers added about 15-18 hp in my midrange, tuned with headers. Top end did not change, but I have not SSIM'd or removed the vias. YET. ssim is sitting on my basement floor waiting for the warmer weather.

Are you an auto Knight, and if this mod causes midrange to improve, and the vias delete causes midrange to go down, I think they go hand in hand.
Also I believe the vias Delete will boost back up the loss in your 5K power bank

Thank you for the graph

Ah you are a manual. I figured it out!

Did the block plate and I just wanted to say that I feel no loss in low end torque, There might be on a dyno but i felt nothing and the top end is amazing... Def worth it...
