ONLY GRINDING INTO 3RD. NEED YOUR OPINION PLEASE!!

I wanted to get your opinion on something. I have 02 SE 6-speed and it mostly grinds into third. It won't grind if I slowly shift out of 2nd into 3rd. But during fast shifting it grinds. I was thinking maybe a synchro going out, but wasn't sure. Transaxle has been recently flushed out with Mobil 1 synthetic. Fluid level is to the fill hole. 65K miles. What could it be?

Its the syncho, unless you are letting the clutch out before shifting to 3rd which I doubt. Its not uncommon with these trannies.

it's a known issue with these trannies if u search but if u use gl5 fluid it will make it waay worse/develop a problem. make sure you have some gl4 fluid like redline

Very common problem on the 02/03 cars. The syncro is poorly designed. It usually doesn't cause a major problem though. Nissan fixed the problem in the 04 models.

Mobil 1 doesn't make a GL-4 fluid. Drain and refill with something else like Redline or Amsoil.
