6spd tranny popping out of 2nd gear.
6spd tranny popping out of 2nd gear.
My transmission seems like it is going into gear like 3/4 of the way. Then when I go to release the clutch, it pops out of gear. I have no idea what this can be. I am thinking it might be the 2nd gear synchro, but I don't know.
Any idea what this could be?

i agree with the syncro diagnosis.
While you are in there you might as well replace the bearings and the other syncros especially third gear. If i remember correctly from another thread an entire rebuild kit is like $245. Someone else will have to chime in with the website for that.

It looks like you can get a rebuild from GT Transmissions. who know's on the price though it looks like the price i remembered was from a 5 speed rebuild it can't be too much different though wouldn't think

are you planning on doing the rebuild yourself? I hear its pretty basic as long as you have the time, tools and a little bit of knowledge. I am sure the FSM has a step by step as well as some how-to's here. If you dont have the FSM i am pretty sure pmohr has it in his sig still

I have to find a 6 speed how to.
Update on the tranny...
Got it into second just now by jamming the **** out of it.
Now when I go to third under light throttle, it is sticking and then going to third. Like it is stuck in second for a little bit then goes in to third.
Then I decided to give it a couple WOT 1st-3rd runs and the trans seemed like it shifted perfectly.
This thing is confusing me. Although, it has to be the synchros, I don't know what else it could be.
