I was reading an article on Overboost.com on wilwood brakes and it got my juices flowin. I remember we hae Wilwood brakes available, but my question is were they able to clear the stock 16" SE wheels on a 4 gen? I did a search and there was no mention.

 

From what I heard...no, but I can't remember who posted.

You may be able to use some spacers to clear... I would imagine they were probably only a few mm off.

I have a set of 17X8" GS400 wheels on with a 50mm offset and they clear with a 6mm spacer. I just got my 17X8" SSR Integrals A2 32mm offset in today. These should definitely clear and then some...although the spoke design on the GS400 are more forgiving. I'll go ahead and test fit the stock 16" SE wheels. I have both a 6mm spacer and 15mm spacer so I'll tell you guys what works.

 

What would be great is if Fastbrakes would have a template available so people could check to see what wheels would work with the up-size brakes. Then you just print the template, and no guessing.

They do fit 16" rims but not sure which ones.

I know Brett aka "Confused" has teh Wildwood kit on his 4th gen. They fit around his 17" Volks and they cleared his 16" rims/drag radials. Talk to him about it. Maybe he can fill y ain some more.

 

 

GS400 wheels are 40mm offset, stock 16s are 45mm.

 

dunno the offset of my 16's. They are MIM (mentos) discontinued and look like they would fit without spacers. I have only tried them with 5mm (my volks use 10mm) and there is plenty of room.

Only way to know is to try.

 

Gs400 wheels are 50mm. Trust me on that...my wheels are slightly tucked in. The 6mm spacer makes the front to be 44mm and the spoke design does the rest of clearing.

 

I don't see how they are 50mm. That means tucked in more than the stock 16" wheels, and I have personally seen these wheels and they stick flush with the wheel well, meaning they are 40mm. They stick out more. I have talked to a few owners and they are 40mm.

 

Alright so is the answer to his question, yes? I too am looking to upgrade my brakes in the future but for fear of loosing my stock 16's for the winter i might just get pads and ss lines again w/o the crossdrilled/slotted rotors cause they didn't help me at all on the 95 SE.

I thought that the 97-99 and 2000+ 16x6.5" were 40mm offset and the 200+ 17x7 were 45mm offset. No?

 

they didnt even clear my 18x7.5 +42 axis se7en's..

so if you want an idea.. there you go.
