Can damper pulley squeal?

Can damper pulley squeal?
I've got a belt type squeak. Sounds like it coming from the main crankshaft pulley...is this possible?

How exactly did you determine that it's coming from the crank pulley?

It can make noises if the rubber between the inner and outer sections breaks apart, yes.
