help, max will not start
help, max will not start
I need some help, here is the issue. My dads maxima will not start. Before we forced it to start by giving it gas when we start, after a couple of mins then it would start. But now, its been a week now and it won't start. We can't figure out the problem. It is a 97 auto with 160k on it.
The car cranks, turns over but does not start.
We did the ecu test, followed on here http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html
the codes it gives are:
01-02 mass air sensor
02-01 iginition signal circuit
02-05 idle speed control
06-03 cylinder 6 misfire
10-08 evap cansiter purge volume control.
What we have done already to diagnose the problem:
-Cylinder 6 has been misfiring for two months now.
-Starter has been replaced 2 weeks ago from autozone.
-Fuel pump and fuel filter both have been changed a month ago.
-crankshaft sensor replaced 4 months.
-EGR, IACV, MAF and TB all cleaned 4 months.
-Coil 6 changed 2 times in the last two months.
-Swapped all the coils around and they all good. The harness reads 11v-12v on all connectors.
-Coil harness 2 and 5 give no spark, the rest of harness, 1,3,4,6 have spark.
-Spark plugs have all been cleaned.
-Disconnected the maf sensor and still no start.
-We used my 01 max as a test car. we swapped out 3 sensors from my 01 and used them on the 97 max. 1.the camshaft sensor, 2.crankshaft sensor near the crank pulley, and 3.crankshaft sensor near the starter.
-The injectors are good, they all spray gas, as they should.
-No blown fuses either.
-Swapped out battery as well.
-Swapped the ecu/ecm from a used 97 maxima, still made no difference.
I can't think of anything else to do. What can the problem be? my concern now is that there is no spark from 2 and 5, while 6 is misfiring and it will not start.
I've read so many threads and sites, tried everything I thought can help, but still can't get it to go.

check the fuel pressure regulator make sure its holding pressure pull the vacuum line off see if there is fuel in it if there is get a new one if there isnt you can pinch the line after teh regulator let the pressure build up if it starts replace the regulator if not rule it out
you can also swap the starter rely with another of the same color if that works replace the rely let us know if that worked
and here is a pic of where i add a ground

might have a bad coil harness. Seems like all electrical issues to me
Rough idle: Rough running engine accompanied by check engine light may require revised powertrain control module. (1997)
Rough idle: Several problems (no-start, no A/C, rough running, etc.) can be traced to broken wires in the engine compartment where the harness bends near the right strut tower. (1995-97)

that is on the driver side... its on the tranny i ran it right to the neg battery post youll have to remove the air scoop thing to get to it
as for the fuel pressure regulator's vaccum line your looking to see if there is fuel in it
