CAI and noise? (I searched the forum first...)

If this has already been answered, sorry for asking, but I didn't come across the kind of answer I was looking for when searching the forum.

I was wondering how much louder than the stock intake a CAI would be? Will my car be heard from blocks away? Or is it only loud once you get into the higher RPMs? I was thinking about getting one, but I don't want my car to be really loud all the time. (or would a y-pipe be a better choice?)

Y-pipe is the best bang for the buck, plus it will not make your car really loud. I know that most that get their intakes replaced love the sound. I have listened to my car while standing in the street, and it's not bad. Trust me you will fall in love with the sound!

Ok, did I read that y-pipes are not officially street legal?
Also, is it even worth getting a y-pipe or a CAI if I don't plan on doing much (if any) racing in the near future?

Like an intake, a Y-pipe will slow you down, for safety reasons and gas milage.

What, you think a cop is gonna get on his back and look under your car? If thats the case, kick him in the head and make a getaway! For all of you who are thinking of flamming me at this point. CALM DOWN! Its a joke for christs sake!

Umm what?

Everybody who put on a Y-pipe here reported low and high end gains... the intake will slow u down in the low end, but make u faster in top end... Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you said....

the CAI will be faster in the low end and then not be as strong in the high end. Same with POP charger except its the backwards effect.

for me the Ypipe was faster all around
