Repair Radiator worth it?

The top half of my radiator is leaking is it better just to replace the whole thing?

I was quoted by only one shop that this can be done "they specialise in repairing top half" and everybody else (shops) say they only replace and no longer repair top half.

to repair top half -235 w/ labor taxes and part or 85 if take the rad out
to replace- 359 w/ labor taxes and part

* kinda thinking to do it my self

+1 on the Koyo rads. I've installed 3 of them, they're a breeze. Definitely a DIY job.

yea, you can get them under $100, and definitely do it your self, just try not to get it anti-freeze on the road (I used a spill collecting funnel for $7) nyc rules dont want it on the streets. did it while parallel parked in about 2 hours (my first time), not a hard job, you can do it!

x2, 1800 radiator is the way to go. Also, that koyo closeout looks like a good deal. If it is the metal part of the radiator that is leaking, it should be very cheap to fix. However, the prices you were quoted seem to indicate it could be a plastic section that needs replacement. Either way, it is more cost-effective to just replace the rad. Good luck.

You never fix a radiator since they are affordable and also better piece of mind to have a new one.

Lots of people fix radiators. Radiator repair shops exist for this reason. Fixing a leaking radiator core can last forever and save you a lot of money. Now, as I said above, a leaking plastic tank is a different story.

I never said that radiators cant be fixed. I've been in the automotive industry for over 15 years and my uncle owns a radiator shop, I know they can be. 10, 15 years ago, yeah repair was the way to go because a new replacement was more expensive. Now in days, it's cheaper to just buy a new one. I personally would rather go spend 150 to 200 and buy it new and that way I'll know that it will last another 80K or whatever. With a fixed one, no telling how long it will last. I'll pay extra for piece of mind.

KOYO Radiator ALL THE WAY!, worth it to get replaced! I went 6 months before getting my radiator replaced. Labor only cost me 50 bucks.
