Crank pulley sheared off - roadside repair question

As per the title, my crank pulley jumped off while driving to work the other day.

It appears that the rubber layer between the hub and outer ring of the pulley sheared thru. The car is parked in a streetside parking space pointed downhill, so it's not the best place to lift a corner or load it for towing.

I have three options:
1) tow or dolly the car home

2) remove the belts and the sheared-off part of the pulley and drive the 15miles home on battery power alone. I can carry yet another battery in case the first one dies. Question: will the outer race of the pulley slide between the hub portion that's still bolted to the crankshaft and the frame of the car? If I have to unbolt the center hub of the pulley I'm concerned it won't happen without an impact tool. By my recollection the frame is what kept the outer part of the pulley from getting thrown off completely.

3) Lift the front right of the car and remove the wheel to get access to the crank pulley bolt. Use an electric impact or breaker bar + cheater to bust it loose. Not sure if the engine will just rotate if I don't have an impact.

Comments please. I like option 2 if the loose part of the pulley will slide out, and option 3 if I don't need an impact tool to do the job. But I really want to get this done on the first try.

I cant answer your question, but I want to ask you to read this thread and let me know if you experienced this noise/vibration prior to your experience, please.

If you keep all lights off and shut the radio down you should be able to make it 15 miles. This is all contingent on if you can get the outer piece of the pulley off.

Exactly. Not going to make the trip at night time, that's for sure.

I was going to ask the same question. I have been having, what I believe is, the same noise for some time now though I can't say I feel it in my gas pedal, the description sounds right.

I did not have any noises to warn me about this problem.

Now let's get back to solving my problem. My car is alongside of a road 15mi from home and hasn't moved in 3 days.

Does the inner hub have slots or holes? I would use use an @$$ load of zip ties (at least eight) to secure the outer and inner together after removing the belt. and drive it home with EVERYTHING turned off. Make sure the bulky part of the zip ties dont contact the timing pointer or anything else.

If you don't mind, can you post some pics of what it looks like? Just like to see how yours came apart.

I tow dollied it home and it's parked down the street. I've been too busy with other things right now to mess with it. I can say that the loose part of the pulley is not coming out through the top until some things move around - it's definitely trapped between the inner pulley and frame.

I would try removing the trans and TC mounts and jacking up the trans to point the engine down.
