Sorry for the repost....did a search, but didn't see much beyond what a PITA they are to change.

Anyone using something other than OEM?

 

I put in Denso Iridiums about 40K ago....still going strong and running smooth....will use them again when the time comes to change them...

 

I've used NGK Indrium IX on all my cars...works great.

 

I use the same and I am happy with its performance. Thanks for the reminder, change them about every 50,000 miles. Last change was 47,000 miles ago. However, anyone having trouble getting to the rear 3 plugs? I did the front 3 myself, but took the car in to replace the rear 3. Too much trouble. Is there any easier way? Did I not remove an intake or bar? My tools and hands were too long or big for the job.

No, you have to remove the intake-manifold to get to the rear bank to get the remaining three plugs out. Is is not hard. If you can do the front bank, then I am sure you can do the rear bank. You need time (1.5-3h), patience, tools, new intake-manifold gasket, and you are good to go.

 

Does anyone know where I can find how to videos or pictures on how to get to and replace the 3 rear spark plugs (and intake manifold gasket while I'm there) on my 2004 Maxima? I've already tried YouTube with no luck. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

Nissan uses NGK from the factory. I plan on replacing mine after I get back from SEMA. Going to use NGK Iridiums.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with Bosch stick with the NGK iridium plugs, they are best in class. Also when you pick up the plenum gasket do yourself a favor and get the EGR pipe gaskets as well, that is to much work to have to do it twice and they are not expensive. The only hard part of that job is the rear most manifold support bracket and the vacuum valve bolt.

 

I'll say pickup a Universal Joint socket for those hard to reach bolts. I'm using double platinum autolite and the work great. I was going to use copper ones but they didn't have any in stock. Also I don't mind coppers since I can take everything apart and finish in 45min.
