New Personal best...Wish it was better.

These times were on my new Nitto NT555R drag radials with 16X8 RX7 wheels.

Only 2 passes today. The track was very busy. I burned out the same. I would go to the edge of the water box and burn out in first gear for about 4 or 5 seconds. I tried two different tire pressure amounts.

1st pass at 20 PSI 2nd pass at 15 psi
60 Ft - 2.234 60 Ft - 2.196
330 - 6.16 330 - 6.178
1/8 - 9.34 1/8 - 9.42
1/8 MPH - 78.38 1/8 MPH - 76.7
1/4 - 14.44 1/4 - 14.63
MPH - 96.59 MPH - 94.29

What I don't get was that my second pass had a better 60 ft, but everything else was slower. Maybe I should try to learn how to get a perfect launch at 20 psi tire pressure.

I need practice! I was hoping for 13's. I'm going to try and go back in November before our track closes down for the winter.

It is gonna be hard to run 13s with that mph. It's possible, but you will need a great 60ft.

Temps: 60. DA: 1158. Cut out open. The funny thing is that the da calculator said I could have run a 14.2 The last time I ran it was in 90 degree summer heat on street tires, and the da calculator said I could have run a 14.1...Go figure. I think I need practice finding the sweet spot with the drag radials. Maybe I'll get NWP Spacers to round out my bolt ons.

That's pretty good DA.

Good luck next time man!

2 passes isn't enough to make a determination on what tire pressure you should be running. make some more passes and keep notes and you'll start to get a clearer picture of what you should run your tires at.

What 1/8 are you talking about? Irwindale?

Pretty sure you need to run faster than an 8.6 to need a helmet.
Are you running faster than that?

He will definitely want to do a burnout.
The nitto drag radials are the best when you get them really hot.

I need to adjust my e-brake. It wouldn't hold very well when I tried to burn out. The car would start pulling forward almost immediately. Also, with an auto, is it best to hold the brake down and rev it up a bit before launch or should I leave off idle speed? I was holding the revs up a bit, which is what I did on street tires.

It will take some experimenting. Every car is different.

One of the best mods you can make is seat time.

Srry I misread where he had radials.... tires aren't really that beneficial to auto's as you can pul 2.0's on street tires and really can't launch much higher than 2.2K... do a bit more justice with an upgraded TC

Yeah, a higher stall would definitely help him.

I've been thinking of that. I know Aaron from NWP says that should be an auto's first mod. I'm curious how expensive it would be to upgrade.

I would agree with that.

If you don't know how to do the swap yourself it will get really expensive.
Check out edge converters, that's what Aaron and Jime run.

Cost of edge Racing 2800 Stall Torque Converter? My buddy is a mechanic, and he will help me install it. I need to save up for this.

About $450 - ask for Andre at Edge.

That's very reasonable. If I add more mods that will be the one. If I can some how get to the 13's with my current set up, then maybe I won't do it. I have to decide if I will be happy with 13's or if I will just continue until I get to 12's...We'll see. Anybody remember what a higher stall converter took off your et?

there will be a new stall converter if everything goes as planned.. it'd be worth the wait if you go that route

In my opinion I would go higher than a 2800rpm stall.
I would go with something around 3600-4000rpm.

Would that high of a stall be annoying on the street? I want a happy medium between street/strip for sure.

Aaron said that he didn't even notice his 3,000 stall. I think a 3600 would be a nice compromise.

Too little of air pressure in a tire (esp drag radial) will slow you down and will be noticable in the mph. So Id say stay around 19-22psi and practice your launches.

those drag radials work best in the 12.5-14 PSI range in my experience. However, they are just crappy drag radials

Me? I have 233 WHP, but that was during the dyno tune session. I have no idea what gear the car was in when the computer posted that figure. But, yeah, 96MPH trap.

11XX DA is pretty good...even with that DA and an auto...still seems low.
