4.5 Gen Header Install

I was contemplating on installing a set of obx v2 headers in my 4.5 gen maxima. But before I go ahead and dive head first into this, I want to get an idea of what exactly will be necessary for these to fit. Will I have to grind the crossmember as necessary in the 5th gen maximas? Also, how exactly do the 02 simulators get wired in? Any other necessary info would be great as well.

please search. this has been discussed before.

Who started this "4.5" gen trend? all 4ths have VQ30DE, there is no reason to call 97-99's "4.5". 5th gen's do it because the chassis comes with two motor options.

The reason for the 4.5 gen title would be because its a 3.5 swapped 4th gen. I do not see a thread on the forum with directions on a header install for 3.5 swapped 4th gen maximas, hence the reason for the thread. Wasn't sure if the header install would follow the same procedure as a header install for a vq30de maxima.

Thank you sir. And lastly, the 3.5 headers for the 02-03 max's will fit fine right? I thought I read somewhere that this was the case but just want to confirm.

Theres a few threads kickin on here, but its not set in stone on what you have to do. Some guys have no issues with the obx fitment .

I had to notch about 3/8 off the crossmember cause it was hitting the flex, also had to trim the front motor mount bracket because it was hitting the collector.

G/Luck .

Quick question. Since I need to pass emissions I need to install a fully functioning egr since Im getting an egr temp. sensor code. Even though the sensor has been hooked up, the cel will not go away even when clearing the code which makes me believe I need the complete egr system installed. My question is, as far as obx headers goes, are the 95-01 the only headers that have the egr bung? I heard that the 02-03 obx headers flow better and provide better gains so Id prefer to go with those headers. Any chance an egr bung could just be welded on or is that not possible?

Gains should be somewhere around 15-20whp. Thats with the header and y-pipe.

That's weird, I've never gotten a temp sensor code with my temp sensor dangling in the engine bay.
Yes, the 3L version has an egr bung, but the y pipe is not equal length. I've have also read about the rear header/y pipe not lining up to the front header without some modification.
Yes, you can have an egr bung welded onto the 3.5L version.

Then why is the 07-08 A34 (6th gen) referred to as the 6.5 gen?

This is a header thread, must mention the oil pan difference!

The dropping of transmission options, only CVT avail, different rims, minor updates to miscellaneous things... enough for a generational change, because the aesthetics are completely different and are a precursor for the current nissan vehicles... but man we're way off topic now...
