got locked out the other day
The car shouldn't lock when key fob is in the car, at least mine doesn't I tried it to see what would happen. That's when u attempt to lock the doors with the button on the handle outside. I've never attempted to lock the doors on the inside, get out and leave the fob in there. I could see it locking in that case
I don't know if this is/was the case with you. But I've found that if I insert my key into the key slot then start my car the car will not recognize that the key is in the car. I then have to remove the key for it to be recognized. I don't know if the car can be locked under those circumstances though.
The lockout protection may not function under the following conditions.
When the Intelligent key is placed on top of the instrument panel.
When the Intelligent key is placed on top of the rear parcel shelf.
When the Intelligent key is placed inside the glove box or storage bin.
When the Intelligent key is placed inside the door pockets.
When the Intelligent key is placed on or under the spare tire area.
When the Intelligent key is placed inside or near metallic materials.
The Intelligent key port probably relates to one of the above conditions.
