Repair for 2001 Bose subwoofer intermittent cut-out issue

Just repaired the factory Bose subwoofer in my 2001 Maxima GLE. Removed the sub's lower cover which houses the 100w amplifier for the sub. I then took apart the amp and exposed the circuit board. Next I removed the 5 prong black relay box with a $10 soldering iron from Walmart and soldered in a jumper wire. My sub no longer cuts out now!! Here is more detailed thread I got the idea from:

Next up I will be looking to fix the rattling issue associated with the factory Bose subwoofer. Will post it later. Hope this helps someone.

I don't thing that jumper is a good idea. The relay is the switch that turns on the power to the subwoofer. The power comes from a fuse that is live all the time.

This means the subwoofer amplifier is on all the time, creating a constant drain on the battery when the car is shut off.

I have not had an issue with parasitic battery drain yet but I will keep an eye on it.

As long as you have a good battery, I'm sure you can go overnight without any problem. It's just that if the car were to sit for maybe a week, the battery could be too run down to start the car.

I have to agree with rkspec that doing this jumper is not a good thing.
