I want to install new headlights...

Hey people, I want to install new headlights, you know the blue/white ones. I thought I could drop them in, but I noticed the rigid ball in front of the current stock light. Does that same piece fit it front of my aftermarket one? Let me know,

Dont buy blue bulbs. They suck. Trust me. I had Hyper, Krypton, and PIAA. They all are horrible in the rain or fog. And the glare is horrible to others.

Shell out for a true HID kit. Unless you really want to shell out for the 2002 Maxima HID units.
But the Nissan HIDs arent that much better than the halogens.

For what it's worth.

I bought a kit from speedlights.com. The hid capsules are custom made to fit in the h4 opening keeping the arc in the same place where the filament would be in the h4. You just have to mount the ballasts somewhere. I mounted the passenger side ballast next to the rad. overflow bottle. There is a tapped hole right there and I just attached to it using an L bracket. The driver side I also used an L bracket and attached it to one of the mounting holes that fuse box in front of the battery used. You plug the stock headlight harness into the ballast using supplied adapters, and that's it. note that the stock harness is -12V, so the positive leads on the ballast get plugged into the ground lead on the harness, and vice versa. Not difficult. Took me a couple hours. The worst part is mounting the ballasts.

If you are really serious about it, let me know I can send you pictures. Also note, you give up high beams. I mounted some driving lights to take their place. No where near as bright, but I used the high beams almost never anyway.

One other thing, those coated bulbs have a ridiculously short life expectancy. Xenon capsules are alleged to outlast your car.
