Injen Air Intake

Okay so I have an injen air intake and I keep hearing it was a bad choice.

What are my options for fixing it. Could I take out the long down pipe and switch the air flow sensor with the short pipe and put the filter on the end of the short pipe?

Or should I do the battery relocation?

Short ram FTW, but if you have all that pipe and want it to be true cold air, do the battery relocate and put the filter down the fender.

Seems like the best option. I think I'd have to get some extra piping though.

- JWT Popcharger
- Custom 3-4" short ram intake (might require a tune, bigger injectors etc though)
- ebay sri

I would need bigger injectors for a 3-4" short ram intake?

I'm looking for how I can re-arrange the intake I have to make it better. Could I add a popcharger to the current piping or what?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm a computer guy and no nothing about cars. I really appreciate your feedback!

You can also think about doing the ghetto air box (GAB)

There's a really good write-up on the org somewhere about the battery relocation. That would seem like a fun project. But if not, just try to make a short ram. Remember, the main reason of having an intake is for sound. I have a random aluminum pipe short ram with some couplers holding stuff together and it sounds and looks great.

Yes but not you'll be suck hot radiator air for sure....The short setup is more responsive and doesn't bog down due to the 39" length intake which is way too restrictive at High RPM and will stall your acceleration....I had one and switched over to a JWT Hybrid SRI!

Could I remove the length, and turn it into a short ram?

Oh my fault. Would it be acceptable to have the mass air flow sensor attached directly to the throttle body?

You can use the existing material from the Injen intake and stock intake parts to make a short ram. Basically, all you need from the Injen intake is the filter, filter adapter. The stock intake parts include that flexible rubber piece, the MAF of course, and the MAF gasket.

The only thing that might be an issue is the air temp sensor. What I did was make a hole in my intake filter (rubber side at the base) and plugged my air temp sensor there. It works just fine.

Awesome!

What order would the pieces go in? Also, for the filter could I use a pop charger?

Use the same filter you have. I'll take a picture of my setup and post it here today. I'm working so I'll have to do this when I head out at lunch to run some errands. Check back in a few hours for the picture of my setup.

Here you go...see attached picture. The item circled is the air temp sensor I plugged into the air filter directly.

I like many extra hoes in my 5th gen

To extend hoses just buy new ones, go get some nice automotive hoses and they come in all different colors if you wanted to dress up a bit.

Best intake = TB --> MAF --> nice straight mid-pipe --> velocity stack --> 6" filter

BTW, for those that don't feel like paying retard prices for a JWT or Stillen intake, you can buy a nice aluminum velocity stack and filter separately for WAY less.

I think I would be scared to get the parts separately because I'd mess something up
