DIY Steering Column Motor?

Has anyone replaced this themselves? I had mine replaced under warranty, but 2 years later is is broken again and I'm way out of warranty. Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the motor that controls the tilt function when you enter and exit the car or are you talking about the power steering control unit? Some more information would be awesome. My guess is you are talking about the ADP(automatic drive positioner) or the Steering Tilt/Telescoping Motor.

Check out this thread. Very simple search and I found it.

Yep, its that motor. I had read that thread before but didn't see the DIY at the end. Appreciate it!

I ended up turning off the automatic tilting option to try and avoid this issue.

The first time mine went bad it was stuck in the worst position. This time it still works but grinds away. I hate to spend 166$ just for the part, seems to be a pretty easy DIY. Guess I'll wait and see how bad it gets. But yea, I have also disabled the auto feature so hopefully its not a big deal.

I think this is a cool feature of the car but personally find it useless therefore have it disabled so it doesn't break. But respectfully, a larger driver would certainly appreciate it I guess.
