Morimoto XB LED Fogs (Type Nissan)
Morimoto XB LED Fogs (Type Nissan)
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on these fogs: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...l#.VXB7y89VhBd
Questions to anyone who has done this install:
Is it necessary to deinstall the front bumper to remove the old fogs and install these? I'm a bit uncomfortable removing the bumper, I could do it but would prefer not to....
Also, I installed Morimoto XB35 HID's 6K for low beams, I'm wondering what the contrast will be between the 6K HID's and 5K LED's...comments?
Thanks everyone, this board has a wealth of knowledge!

You can always pull the front wheels and remove the fender liners and gain access that way. 6000K has a hint of blue tint to it and the 5000K will be a bit whiter. Somebody correct me if I am wrong on the color.
There is a chance that you will have to drop the bumper, but in the meantime, you can exchange the foglight bulb by removing the plastic covers directly underneath the front bumper. See if you can access the screws that hold the housing in place and if there is enough room to drop the entire housing downwards. It will definitely be easier to drop the bumper.
As for the color temperature difference, they are rated exactly at 5K so yes there will be a color contrast between a bluish white to a very true white.

2011 Nissan Maxima: I installed your Morimito XB35 HID'S 6K for low beams and like the output, don't know If I should go with these for fogs or go with the Type NISSAN LED fogs. which would project better?
Carlos @ TRS
The Type N fogs will perform alot better since the width is increase plus there is no need for ballast bulbs or harness.

I installed mine without removing the bumper. Just felt around for the two torx screws, undid them. Pulled the originals out. Wired up the Morimotos, checking polarity before I put the ends together. Popped them up and screwed them in. Wasn't super comfortable reaching up and around but it was quicker than pulling the bumper.

How do you rate the light quality and spread of the LED fogs? are you happy with the results?
