Gen 4 Fog Light Install - Help

I have a 97 GXE that came WITHOUT fog lights, but I would like to add some factory (salvage) fog lights. I was happy to notice the wiring harness for fog lights is already there from the factory; they just bundled up the unused electric leads with electrical tape and tucked them in there. If I install the factory brackets and lights, then plug in these leads, will I get lights, or do I still need to add a switch to give them power or on/off capability? These current leads branch off the wiring going to the turn signals. I believe the cars that came with fog lights had an added switch included on the regular light control stalk. I don't need to re-do that stalk... actually I'd be happy to have the fog lights on anytime the headlights were on. Anybody that can help me, much appreciated.

Same question came up about a month ago, and many times before.

Curious, do you know how to use the Advanced Search function here on the Org? It's a great tool to use.

Here's the recent thread. Answer is in post #2.

When nobody responded I started searching and found some answers, but in all that, no one made real clear how to tap into the marker light wiring, i.e. if I power fogs off that wiring, instead of the signal stalk. What color wire gets spliced into what color wire, etc. Apologies if this is a common question, but I'm not finding an answer.

From my understanding since you are pre wired you just need to get a stalk from a 99 that had fog lights factory.

If you dont feel like getting the stalk your best bet is to go to the link wizard referred to.

Note: my car was not prewired at all and i used the info in the thread wizard posted and i have foglights wired independently to a switch i can turn on and off whenever and it was fairly simple using the wiring diagram

You have your answer now, correct? Get the parts I listed in the linked post #2 and you're good to go.
