Installing Factory Hid's on my 2000
Installing Factory Hid's on my 2000
At the moment I'm building my wiring harnesses. 2 12v blue 4 prong Nissan relays 2 Sets of factory Nissan headlight switch diodes(4 diodes total) I swiped the diodes out of 2 separate Maximas from my local Pull-a-part. Also swiped a relay box from a Quest. I dont halfass it when it comes to my wiring. To be continued
I know what I'm doing. I'm definitely not going to put HIDs in a halogen headlight assembly I know better I know that when you do that the light scatters and it blinds people. I've already purchased some factory 03 Maxima HID's. Am I wrong or did the 2000 Maxima not come with HID's as an option? It clearly has the wiring diagram listed in the 2000 FSM. I'm gonna use the Terrano HID wiring diagram for my install. I've already got my relays and diodes needed. For those that don't know the diodes are used so when you turn your brights on your low beam Xenon don't go off. It prevents your ballast being used like a light switch on and off on and off if that makes sense.
This will be my 3rd install of factory Hid's on Nissan's. My 97 QX4, 96 Pathfinder and now in progress 2000 Maxima. Trust me

and from what I know, there definitely was not factory installed HID's untill 2002-2003, i believe same for 350-Z started at 2003 , but as ur seeing maybe they were being proactive in the wiriing diagrams... who knows.
the whole 5.5 gen refacing and generation upgrade was half the HID headlight and front end refresher, bumper, headlight housings, bulbs, grille. etc

Thanks for the info. I maybe have a 2000.5. That's the fsm I downloaded last night that matches my wiring and relay setup. With my 2 R50'S neither had battery saver or auto lights so I'm having problems on how to wire these headlights up does anyone have any input on how I can go about wiring them up? I thought about just tapping in at the stalk switch and using two of my own relays but I don't know if that will disable the battery saver and all the rest that's involved with the factory headlights.. I also don't have any knowledge about running relays in series I'm almost positive it's not good to do that. I know if I remove the factory relays for the headlights it will disable everything that's involved in those circuits I don't care really if I have the battery saver working or not I just want to be able to use these headlights and I know there's a way to wire them In. thinking I should just tap-in at the stock run my own relays and just go from there if that makes any sense?
The Maxima did not have HID headlights until the 2002 model. There is no difference between the 2000 and the 2000.5 Maximas in regards to the non-hid headlight wiring. Depending on where you got the manual from, some places have the European manual for either the 2000 or the 2000.5. A good place to get the manual from is -
http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/2001/
The 2000 manual covers cars with VIN numbers up to YT0 12236 or YT2 11680 or YT5 27429, or YT7 40491 (these are the last 8 digits)
If the VIN is higher, then use the 2000.5 manual.
Here is a how-to for doing the swap. It includes wiring diagrams -
