Wiring removal in the interior

I have been researching the site to help answer my question but to no avail. I guess because you all don’t butcher your car like I have. Basically I have a 4th gen and am making it into a dirt track car. Car was wrecked and didn’t have any other purpose other than a parts car so I figured this will be it’s future. But I am at the stage of gutting the interior. I am not a wiring guy so my question is, what wires inside can I do away with? I am not going to mess with the dash wiring at all, so I have the door wiring tail light wiring and so forth, I haven’t cut any of it yet and was hoping you all can tell me what is ok to take away and what isn’t. Any help will be great tia..

Save the ecu and wiring harness for that. Everything else can go. I have a mint shell here, wish someone picked it up free so they could do what you're doing.

Since the wire harnesses contain many wires that go to all kinds of 'things', you need to cut the wire harnesses open so that you can remove the wires for whatever you are trying to remove. You will need the wiring diagrams to determine which wires to remove.

Here is a link to the service manual for that - http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/

The majority of the wiring diagrams are contained in the EL (electrical) and the EC (engine control) sections. The section IDX (index) will direct you to the appropriate page. Towards the end of the EL section is the wire harness layout that will probably help you find a connector.
