Seatbelt light does not come on

Hey all,
So my seatbelt light doesnt come on when I turn the car on, no chime or light when the belt is released. I replaced the lights in the cluster and still no luck. This is in my 97 i30 my maxima works as intended.

Any thoughts?

First of all....

Does this even matter?

I could understand if you have small children in the back seat

One or two adults in the front seat don't need a nanny light.

Try a different bulb, the replacement bulb could have also been bad. Also, on this particular car, there isn’t any seat belt chime. The light is simply on or off.

This happens in my car as well. To get the light to illuminate I press the red release button for the seat belt on the buckle (driver seat) a couple times without the seatbelt being inserted.

hope that helps

Your right it doesn't matter but I was curious if it was a common issue

Perhaps some one who has dealt with this issue can tell us the real answer. I honestly don't know.

My car has a mystery issue. A light is supposed to light up when the car is low on fuel. Mine quit. It started being not accurate before it quit. I imagine that the light will work again if and when the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I just live with the problem because fixing it will be a pita.
Such is life with an elderly car.

Did you check if the wiring for the latch is plugged in?

I believe the fuel light is controlled by the wiring harness on the fuel sender, mine was intermittent years ago and then began to work again
