I've been looking for a way to make the LED bar in my headlights run as DRLs so they operate at full brightness during the day, then cut to half brightness at night. I ordered a dimming module from Amazon that connects to the LEDs, gets power and ground straight from the battery (module detects when the alternator is being charged, so it only turns on the lights when the engine is on) and has an extra wire to connect to the low beams, which is supposed to cause the LEDs to dim once the low beams turn on.
That extra wire wasn't working, but I was looking in the fuse box and saw a "DTRL" slot on the cover. To my surprise, it was fused. My Max is American, so it didn't come standard with a DRL option. Has anyone attempted tapping this fuse for auxiliary lights? Any idea why mine is fused? I have a DRL icon on my turn signal but I can't turn to it.
I did, can't quite remember what happened (almost 2 years ago now...can't believe that) but I didn't use it so it probably didn't work. I think there wasn't power in it. I ended up getting a better drl module that worked with the dimming feature.

When I use the DTRL with a fuse tap they stay on constantly with the car off, they have constant power. If I tap into an ignition fuse in the fuse box left of the steering wheel they work like they should. Mine don't have stock drls but it also has the DTRL fuse slot with a #10 in it. When I have 2 #10 fuses in the fuse tap and the single drl wire in the butt connector they stay on with no ignition. When I put the wire directly in the fuse slot they stay on, only way they work properly is when I run the drl wire to an ignition fuse. Any ideas why that DTRL fuse under the hood gives constant power?

My guess is they all do by default. The 7th gen never came with a DRL from factory, so they never had a reason to change it to an ignition-only slot. Maybe they had planned to add a DRL option but ended up just saving it for the 8th gen.
