is it time to replace? (26 y/o tps sensor)

as stated, she ran great all day but after 3 to 4 hours of stop and go driving/parking she started having problems, mainly going up hills and at one point just going straight down the road. as usual, i made it home cause maxy is the most reliable car i've ever owned and i know what i've done to as far as repairs. she was chugging up these 2 big hills and stalled numerous times, i have an oem tps sensor new in the box that i bought 4 years ago and i lost it only to find it in a box of parts just last fall. so, stalling, chugging, but no codes at all but plenty of power for the better part of the day, i know test it with a multi-meter to be sure, but it won't cost me anything, so do you think it should be replaced at this point? and the injectors are all fine, i think i need maybe a coil or 2, and the plugs might need a clean up as well, and i will clean the throttle body to boot. is there a possibility that the c/e light burnt out? i wonder.......

Couldn't hurt to replace it since you already have the part, and assuming you are doing it yourself.
SES should light up when key is first turned to ON position, I think. I figure if it doesn't light up during that startup sequence then it would be burnt out?

Why is it that you’re thinking to go straight for Throttle Position Sensor?

So it has problems going up hill

also going straight down the road.
Were you accelerating at the time??

Is your ga's tank nearly empty?

Your problrm sounds like fuel
starvation.

well, no check engine light, no smell of gas, have yet to check for codes cause it's cold as hell out. i know i have a bad coil, maybe 2, and as i stated it the original tps on the vq and some of the symptoms like stalling and loss of power are what i have read could be a failing tps.

To repeat myself.......

How Much Gasoline Is In The Tank.

low fuel levels cause those type of problems.

if the tank has a fair amount of fuel in it , you have other problems.

over half a tank, plus fuel always. i haven't heard any noise from the fuel pump although i've thought that it also could be on the way out.

If you know you have a bad coil, why aren't you blaming your issues on the coilpack(s)? And how do you know you have a bad coil or two? A bad coil or two would definitely explain the loss of power as you accelerate up a hill, it's under a greater load than cruising down a flat street. Bad coils don't really explain the stalling issues though, so now I'm a bit perplexed.

Start by checking for codes and report back.
