Angry Locksmith screwed up my key fob

2012 Maxima S - When I bought the car, the owner only had one key fob. I wanted to have a spare so I purchased a "New" one from ebay. I took the car and the new fob to a lock locksmith that claims they can program the key fobs. After he programmed my second remote, the factory original would no longer work. And to make it worse, I can no longer lock/unlock the doors with the remote. To unlock the car, I have to take out the key and unlock the door. Also the car does not recognize the key fob once I get in the car (says No Key Detected on display). In order to start the car, I have to put the fob in the holder on the left side of the dash. The locksmith told me that the BCM on the car was the problem and would have to be replaced. Personally, I think this is BS and he just doesn't know what he is doing.

How can I recover from this and get my car back so it will recognize the key fob? I hate having to do all this to get in my car and get it started. Do I have to take it to a dealership (which I would really like to avoid)? Did the locksmith disable something on the security?

Thanks

Looks like a trip to a Nissan dealer is in your future.

Batteries plus did mine. You may want to check with them.

Thanks, but I think this issue is a little deeper than a dead battery.

you mis-understand, they provided and programmed my keyfobs at a quite reasonable $150.

My guess is that he began the programming with your new fob instead of the original fob, and that the new fob is either with a dead or no battery. The programming will have to be done afresh ensuring that the fob batteries are in good condition.

I got another fob and I took it to another locksmith . He was able to program it without any problems. Happy now. He only charged me $40. The first guy that screwed things up charged me $80. It still chaps my butt when I even think about that.

Oh well. live and learn I guess. At least I'm gong now.
