Hello, I've been having an ABS/TC light for the last few months..I finally got it diagnosed to be the front driver side wheel sensor..
I ordered a cheap eBay replacement and tried to replace it. The sensor that came out was about 1/2-3/4" shorter than the replacement part. I assumed that the bad sensor had broken inside the hub, but the new sensor is bottoming out at the length of the old sensor.. when I inspected the port with a flashlight, I can see smooth metal at the end of the whole. I don't know if something shifted inside the hub and broke the sensor, or I did in fact receive the wrong part.
When I search online for the part and look at pictures, they all seem to look about the same length as the one I received, but who knows if these are the actual part pictures or generic.. I could remove the passenger one and compare, but I figured I'd check here first.
Nobody mentioned bearings...we are talking about the hub assy where the sensor is located to determine the wheel "speed" as the magnetic encoder turns. If anything breaks off or gets that mutilated, you aren't going to get good readings.
