2016 Maxima Security Indicator Lights Stays on When Engine is Running
Folks - I actually mentioned the Security Indicator Light issue in the "Being told HVAC Box needs replacement" thread, but wanted to start a new thread. The problem is the Security Indicator Light, the icon light of a red car with a key in the middle. It flashes when you turn off the car and it's armed. My problem is I had the HVAC box/evaporator coil replaced along with a new compressor. If your not familiar with the HVAC box being replaced, they essentially have to take out the whole dash board, disconnect electronics to get to the box for replacement. My problem is the car starts fine, but that Security Indicator Light remains solid red while the engine is on and I'm driving. It goes out when I turn off the engine, and when I arm the car it then flashes like it is supposed to do. Didn't have the problem before the HVAC box replacement and I suspect it's a wiring issue or something was not reconnected right. Have any of you had this issue? Thanks.
Take it back to the Dealer who did the work! I can't believe you've paid for this job 3 times now, if I read your other posts correctly. I would have sold the car after the second repair.

The dealership knows about it and will work the issue at no cost. I actually only replaced the original HVAC box once previously on my Assurant extended warranty that I had with the car loan through USAA, but it just ended earlier this year. Then this second HVAC box failed, so only paid for it once, plus the compressor that was going out as well, the 4K total cost for both replacements. The good thing the dealership is fighting with corporate, bypassing Nissan Consumer Affairs that is worthless to authorize a "good will" fix for a bad part, even though the work has already been done. They kept the faulty HVAC box in case it's needed for further review.

Glad to hear it's only the second time and not the third time. In your other responses in other threads, you're complain of strange noises that you're hearing related to the AC in the engine bay. After you get all these issues resolved, you may want to consider other dealerships or shops for future repairs. I don't have confidence in this dealership's repair abilities.

Agree Wizard, especially now that I'm learning today (car in shop) that the security indicator light was on due to a loose/not fully connected pigtail connector, and the AC noises? Well, as I updated in the HVAC box thread, a bad new compressor installed. This just tells me the quality of Nissan parts. Appears wherever they are made, they are cheap materials/products and/or just bad QA/QC where they are made. Will hold onto the car a bit longer, but going to look into another brand. Lost confidence in Nissan parts, and was always concerned about the whole dash being removed and something not being connected. I did a full electronics review of all buttons, information screen, infotainment screen, center console controls, etc., to ensure everything works. Thankfully just that security indicator light was the issue, but should have not occurred in the first place.
