1987 Maxima timing belt question
95% that it damaged the engine. My uncle's belt broke but his car was under 2000rpm with basically no load. All he did was get a new belt installed. Right now all you can do is install a new belt and do a compression test as outlined in the haynes/chilton repair manual. If it comes out bad, then you have to either get another set of heads or get another engine.

What are the odds that it did engine damage.

You sure are lucky not to have any damage done. Does your car have an automatic?
My friend had an 85 Accord w/auto, belt broke rounding an off-ramp, replaced it and no damage.
My 86SE with 5sp was not so lucky, rounding an on-ramp at 25mph, lost power and I knew what had happened, pop the clutch-in hoping it was not too late. Two exhaust valves were bend, but I went ahead and changed them all.
Just curious, AL
