What is the deal?

I just had the fuel filter replaced, the spark plugs replaced, the synthetic oil changed, and the coolant system flushed. My car really seems to not have as much "pep" as it used to. I have 55k and this is the first plugs/fuel filter change i have done, are there any explinations for the recent lag or is it something all in my head?

I hate asking newbie-ish questions, but i guess i am a newbie when it relates to replacing these things seeing as how it was the first time it was done.

 

did you do all the work yourself or did a shop do it?

i had the same problem after i did my 60k tuneup, but it turned out to be a bad coilpack on the rear bank making my car misfire and run very weird. Other than that my car ran alot smoother

After I did my 60k tuneup, I noticed that my car began acting weird too. It idles rough, and has a knocking sound at idle.

 

I did my 60k mile check up and my car felt slower as well. It does get better though. It is feeling like its getting some of its power back. I think Nismo had a good idea about the ECU reset.

 

my CAI has been in for a week, not even, so i think tonight i'll disconnect the negative battery terminal and let it sit.

are you going to disconnect the battery to reset the ecu?

 

Did you check the gap on the spark plugs. Just because there brand new doesn't mean that the gap is correct. I would check that if reseting your ecu doesn't work.

 

I thought our plugs need no gapping. Just put 'em in. I have never gapped my plugs and my car has always been run great.

Same here. I heard NGK spark plugs are pregapped, right? Thus, I never gap the spark plugs.

 

If you bought the OEM platium spark plugs they should already be gapped correctly, but it never hurts to double check.

A few things to check:
- Make sure the fuel filter is installed the correct direction, I don't think this is the problem because most likely the car would stall completely.
- Make sure all the wire are completely seated on the spark plugs. When I replace mine, one of the wires wasn't completely on and I knew something was wrong. Just pull them all off and push them back on.
- Reset the ECU, it's easy - I think it's in the FAQs

- Try cleaning your air filter
- Clean your throttle body.

 

How important is the coolant system flush? I don't have 60k miles yet, more around 55k. I already changed the fuel filter, oil change, ATF flushed/refilled, knock sensor, and spark plugs are still good. I'm going to do the PCV valve too, not sure if it's needed, but might as well right?

 

The coolant you'll want to change just to ensure the long term reliability of your cooling system. Also, PCV you don't have to change ever, according to the Nissan FSM. I changed my PCV at 100K anyways. Why not, it's a little $3 part and you can do the PCV and coolant yourself.

did any1 try this....reset the ecu then do some burnouts...and WOT runs...so the ecu gets an idea of how u want to drive..????
prob wont work but maybe??
