There are better, but none cheaper!

A torque wrench is NOT the same thing as an air impact wrench and don't let those tire monkeys tell you different.

any recommendation on the amount of range of torque the wrench i purchase should have? I'm just planning on doing like minor repairs on my own... and maintance stuff as well as common car modifications.

Are you sure you want a torque wrench? Or do you want a breaker bar?
Torque wrenches are used to tighten bolts/nut to specific values while breaker bars are used to loosen frozen bolts/nuts.
Breaker bars are good to have if you don't own an impact wrench.

I would suggest that you get a racheting-click type with 1/2" drive and a range up to about 150ft-lbs. This will work for about 90% of the general mechanical work you will do.

Don't use it for low torque applications (<25ft-lbs); there is just too much leverage and too little sensitivity at those low ranges.
