95 Maxima Wheel Alignment problems
95 Maxima Wheel Alignment problems
Hi all, I am a new owner of a 95 Nissan Maxima SE with Automatic Transmission. The car has 100k miles and is in good condition. New brakes, new tires (3 months old) and I just had a four wheel alignment. The problem I have is that the car will drift to the right if I let go of the steering wheel regardless of the type of pavement I'm on. If I center the steering wheel, then the car goes straight. I have rotated the tires to no avail. I have had Pep boys redo the alignment, again with no results. They say everything is within spec. They said something about the car not having "castor" adjustments and that nothing else can be done. I would really like to fix this problem but do not know how to proceed. I would appreciate any input or any suggestions on mechanics in the Bay Area. Thanks again.

well first off, if they are charging you for a 4 wheel alignment then they are ripping you off. only front toe is adjustable on the car so it should actually be a 2 wheel/thrust angle alignment. what part of the bay area are you at? i work on alot of Maximas all the time and i work at Firestone part time on weekends. Maybe try swapping the left tire to the right side and right tire to left and see if it pulls to the left. that can determine if its in the tires or not. keep in mind sometimes cars will bpull a bit to the right due to road crown.
have they looked at tire pressure? I have had mine alligned twice too, fitst by firestone and the second time by myself on a Bear laser allignment unit and mine still slightly drifts to the right. I have found that slightly adjusting the toe helped with my problem but the only problem was that the adjustment were so sensetive that even just tightening the nut too much will throw it out of spec.
