Corner Bulb No Brght like my Headlights

I just bouhght a pair of Xenon bulbs (1157) for the corners, i wuz thinkin that they'd be bright like sum of the maximas i see on his site (bright as the headlight).....they still came out dim, not much different from the stock bulbs......my question is...what do i have to do to make them bright like my headlights,do i have to rewire them, or do i jus needbetter bulbs?

I think if you just put the bulb in backwards, IE rotated 180 degrees, it should light up much brighter than before. You might have to clip off the little nub on the metal part of the bulb, the one thats closer to the glass.

The 1157 bulb will only go in the socket one way because of the offset the 2 nubs have. Pay attention to which way it goes in then do the following:

Grab a nail clipper and snip the nub closest to the bulb off.

Put the bulb back in the socket 180 degrees from how it's supposed to go. Then enjoy your bright lights!

if you're having trouble, cut a strip of electrical tape about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch high. wrap the tape around the spot where the nub used to be, but dont cover up the bottom nub. now look down into the bulb socket. you can see that there are two grooves: one designed for the higher nub, one designed for the lower. heres the trick: you want the lower nub to go in the spot for the higher one. place it in and turn it so that it locks. replace housing and the clearance lights are going to be brighter! hope htis helps!

Here is another option for you:

http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max....htm#97corners

It is easy to do and can be done in about 1/2 an hour.

Or check out the MaxFAQs at

95/96 is really easy. All you do is take the two power wires(ones that aren't black) and splice them together so that the voltage is the same all the time. Very easy and works the same.

Hey i just did the mod where you shave off the thing on the bulb and everything was going great and i was like damn what a difference and then everything just turned off.

Even my fog lights went off and they won't turn on, the head lights will but not the corners or fogs and i checked the fuse and relays and bulbs and nothing seems to be wrong, Did i miss something????
Is there anything else i can do???

Please help!!!!!!!!

Man those things are BRIGHT!! Just tried it and it's daylight out here. Can just see the headlights but my corners are BEAMIN'! Did it the way it said on http://unibomber.netfirms.com/ and left a piece of the top one on so it kinda holds it a bit more.

If only you new guys KNEW how many 100s of 1000s of times this has been discussed here in the last few years.

Now, do you want to make the rear windows go down all the way? Ask me REALLY REALLY nice and I might tell ya!

I agree totally that all users should at least try and use the search option but what is the point of having a forum where you get to interact with other people about similar problems?? In case you haven't noticed I'm still considered a "newbie" even though I've been with the org for 8 months. I guess I'll always be a newbie if all I ever do is use the search option. I wish I had something to contribute to the org but most of the members have seen and done it all....so all us newbies can do is search. Sorry I just had to vent a little bit.

I did but i failed to check the tail light fuse, I didn't think it was related to this problem but i guess it was.
Plus the fogs didn't come on because there rewired into the parking lights.
