Fuel Pressure Gauge:Electrical or Mech?

Fuel Pressure Gauge:Electrical or Mech?
What kind of Fuel Pressure gauges does everyone have? I am looking for an electrical one but do they even have them? I also found an electric oil pressure gauge. Can I use it for the fuel instead since it only measures pressure?

For awhile, I thought mechanical gauge could be used inside the cabin with an isolator. I was dead wrong. It would only work if the car runs on carburator with less than 15psi of fuel pressure. With fuel injected car, the fuel pressure gets way too high even for an isolator. With Maxima, eletrical fuel pressure gauge is the only option.

LoL.. Let's have an install meet tomm in your garage..
You can practice on mine so you'll have experience when your gauge comes in the mail..
BTW.. I have the Sport-comp series full sweep electrical FP... I got mine for free with my SC....

I never seen an autometer mechanical fuel preesure gauge with a remote sender. By remote sender, do you mean the isolator? Eletrical fuel pressure gauge does come with an eletrical sender. It's a round cylinder thing that has wires coming out.

Hmmm what about:
Autometer part: 5282

Summit sells it here:

In the end if you wan't to go mechanical you pay:
$95 isolator
$40 gauge
$10 in random fittings
-------------
$145
+ the hassle of running liquid filled line to the gauge
for the electrical you'll pay:
$190 Gauge+sender
$5 of fittings.
--------------
$195
But is is "plug and play".
or you can just get an "under the hood" gauge for a bout $40
so if you want the gauge inside expect to at least pay $100 over the regular under the hood gauge.

The autometer sender is different between the fuel pressure gauge and oil pressure gauge. Oil tends to be thicker than gasoline. It will work probably but how well and how long is unknown.

2242 (oil pressure sender) is $25 and 2248 (Gasoline sender) is $27
Which makes me wonder why there is such a price difference between gauges ...

Keep in mind Autometer had a recall on the short sweep eletrical fuel pressure gauge so you can't get sender 2248 anymore. The full sweep sender is totally incompatible with short sweep gauge. The short sweep fuel pressure guage is much cheaper.

I doubt it.

Do you know what the part number is for the new sender is ? 'Cos autometer catalog doesn't list anything else like that.
